Yana Loves the Cavaletti - Horse Riding Lesson

Yana Loves the Cavalatti teaser trailer  (this Sunday's horse riding lesson)
I was trying to learn this movie trailer apps - so i played around with it using Yana's lesson video clips - it was actually fun doing this and and surely made Yana and her sister laugh :)

Yana's Horse Riding Lesson - Cavaletti (trot and canter)

School is back and Yana is back to weekend riding schedules. Although the family moved to Los Banos in Laguna, we travel the 80km on weekends for Yana to ride. She wouldn't have it any other way anyway... She said she misses the stables.
This Sunday, Yana did the cavaletti on trot and canter. She said it was a lot of fun though can really be tiring on the thighs. Her instructor said she needs to develop stronger thighs for the jumps.

 Trotting Poles

School summer break has come and Yana loves having the time to go to the stables and ride.
Yana wears the inflatable safety vest since this summer is really getting hot. It's lighter, cooler, and gives her more freedom of movement.
Miller, MEC's newest stallion (such a handsome horse) is Yana's darling. She's so fond of him not just because he's so good looking but because he is also a very nice horsey :)

Yana's First Horse Camp - Camp Palomino April 2013 (El Kabayo Clark)

Yana's First Horse Camp at El Kabayo Clark (Camp Palomino)
Now, that smile says a lot! Only a rider will be so happy in a dusty, hot and humid bullring with horses.
I know this post is so late since its already the rainy season - but its Yana's first horse camp and so worth sharing. It was a two-day event where we had to leave her in the camp for an overnight stay. The participants slept in tents.
Yana was eleven at this time and being our youngest is always considered our baby. She's tall but really very much a child. We were actually hesitant to let her join, but that picture above proved we did right to let her join.

Summer Camp for Kids Who Love Horses
The program above made sure the kids would have a lot of fun with horses. Yana enjoyed grooming the horses as well as the fun games with horses. Most of all Yana gained new friends who understands and appreciates her passion for horses.

Taking Care of Horse Tack (Saddle and Bridle)

The English Saddle and Bridle
Yana usually bathes the horse she mounted for each riding lesson. Not because she's required to, but because she really loves to. Last Saturday, other than bathing the horse, she was taught how to care for saddle and bridle. How to clean, disassemble and assemble it back again.
Sponge is used to apply saddle soap. Saddle conditioner is applied after cleaning. Stirrup leathers must be removed from the saddle before cleaning and reattached before safekeeping.
It is important to care for your saddle or tack. Good tack is expensive and can last many years if well taken cared of. Clean, Condition, Place, and Repair are the four words to remember in taking care of horse tack. A neglected and unchecked tack can be dangerous both for the rider and the horse.
